Eiffel Tower gets new perspective with glass floor view
Published on 7 october 2014It is part of a 30 million euro first-floor facelift for the famous monument. So what does it feel like to look 57 metres straight down?
"Butterflies in my stomach," said US tourist Aaron Smith from Hawaii.
He said he was "scared" but "hoping they did a good job building it - hoping I'm not that one guy that falls down. It was fun though."
It means more people may stop on the first floor before heading to the top.
"It is impressive," said Spanish tourist Manuel Perez.
"I didn't know this part of the Eiffel Tower existed and it is really impressive. Looking down, I am speechless. Speechless."
Solar panels and a museum are also part of the renovation of the Eiffel Tower which has graced the Paris skyline since 1889.
