Microsoft says Windows 10 is a “new era” in personal computing
Published on 29 july 2015Windows 10 can run across PCs, tablets and smartphones and features include a new search function, faster browsing, personalised gaming and an easier interface.
"Windows 10 ushers in an era of more personal computing in a mobile first cloud, first world", said CEO Satya Nadela. "We want to make Windows 10 the most-loved release of Windows."
Microsoft says the launch represents a new era in personal computing.
The company only has around a three percent share on mobile devices. Analysts say increasing that presence is a big challenge for the Microsoft.
In order to maximise customers it is on offer as a free upgrade to most users of Windows 7 and 8.1 in 190 countries. But anyone still using older versions like XP, will have to pay, as will business users.
The new version replaces Windows 8 that was released two years ago and proved hugely unpopular especially in the business market.
First reviews of Windows 10 have been largely positive.
