A stunning 7 -1 win over the host nation in the semi final of FIFA's World Cup tournament was greeted by scenes of joy and rapture back in Berlin.

Many experts predicted Germany would win, but not by such a huge margin.

"This is so great, this is awesome, I'm so happy," enthused one German fan.

"Germany is super. Germany played much better than Brazil and this is why they won," said another.

"Extraordinary. It was simply a big celebration of football and a celebration of goals. We are looking forward to the final," was the opinion of several supporters.

Reporting for euronews from an ecstatic Berlin, Sebastian Saam summed up the atmosphere:

" Wild enthusiasm, cheers, and astonishment about a game that will go down in history for its unbelievable result.

Now the German fans are hoping for the title. It would be the first time in 24 years, since the World Cup in Italy in 1990.
