Red Carpet Ceremony to Launch Bled Film Festival

One of only few eco film festivals in the world, BFF will see seven documentaries and eight feature-length films in the running for the awards and a diverse accompanying programme until Saturday.

The opening film "Wild Tales" by Argentinian director Damian Szifron will be screened following the red-carpet ceremony featuring guests and speakers of honour in front of the Festival Hall.

Bled Castle will provide the venue for three interviews with a view with filmmakers, while Bled will also host a meeting of the European Film Academy.

Meanwhile, the border public will be able to attend two open-air screenings and two in the Festival Hall.

Hosted by IEDC Bled School of Management, today's international conference will focus on water as a human right, responsibility and opportunity.

Climatologist Lučka Kajfež Bogataj will meanwhile moderate a round table on climate change, held as part of the conference.

A round-table will also be held on Thursday to discuss the winning short film of the competition for primary schools on best ways to save water.

A charity golf tournament will be held on Sunday with proceeds aimed at water.org, a globally active foundation that secures people access to drinking water and sanitation solutions.

"Bled Film Festival has created a wonderful film story, it promotes the latest quality films and directs attention to the need to preserve water resources," says President Borut Pahor, the BEF honorary sponsor.
