This was the first group to sign the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement that designates which institution in each country is responsible for transferring tax data to other states, while another 38 countries are expected to follow 38 by 2018.

By signing the agreement, the Slovenian government committed to start with the first exchange of information on financial accounts in 2017.

Fair taxation is becoming one of the most important topics in the global economic environment, minister Mramor was quoted as saying today by the Slovenian Embassy in Berlin.

The agreement will give the authorities access to the financial accounts of Slovenian taxpayers abroad, including in tax havens around the world, which will allow a fairer distribution of the tax burden among all citizens, Mramor added.
